As one of the world’s leading companies in the solar industry, we are successfully meeting the challenge of harnessing the clean energy of the sun on a large scale. We are developing ever more efficient solar systems for our three market segments, Home, Business and Solar Parks. In each case, precisely tailored to the requirements and needs of our target groups. We are strong in global markets and are consistently expanding our presence in regions with high growth potential. This will open up new, attractive sales markets for us in the near future and is a solid basis for the further development of our company.

Strong in the market. Our three market segments.

To date, IBC SOLAR has implemented photovoltaic systems with an output of more than seven gigawatts worldwide. That's the equivalent of several coal and nuclear power plants. Our portfolio comprises solar energy solutions in the three market segments Home, Business and Solar Parks. Our close-knit network of premium partners ensures that the systems are installed competently and to a high standard.

Home

With innovative solar energy solutions - such as the HomeOne complete system - we provide homeowners with easy access to their own green energy system on the roof. In doing so, we fulfil the desire for self-sufficiency, independence from the electricity price and sustainable energy generation.

Business

With our intelligently controlled PV systems for commercial applications, we support companies industrial operations to reduce their operating costs, enable them to plan their energy costs for decades and increase production reliability with electricity storage systems.

Solar Parks

For investors, local authorities and landowners, we are a first-class partner for project development, financing, planning, construction, operation and maintenance of large solar parks. We enable sustainable power generation with reliable returns. From site search through to operation.

Actively on the move in two business segments.

Distribution

As a manufacturer-independent company, we distribute all products required for solar power generation and storage through our premium partners. This includes PV modules, mounting systems, inverters, energy management systems, storage systems, wallboxes for e-mobility and a wide range of accessories. In addition, we develop our own products under the IBC SOLAR brand in first-class quality.

Project management

We plan and deliver turnkey photovoltaic solutions of any size in the business and solar park market segments. We support our customers either directly or together with one of our premium partners, from project development to construction and maintenance.

Sustainability in the company

We stand for the generation of clean, environmentally friendly energy. As a result, we are committed to constantly improving the processes and procedures in our company and making them more environmentally friendly. This is very important to us. We provide continuous and up-to-date information about our efforts, progress and successes in this area.

Official partner of the sun since 1982.

  • 1982

    Founding year

Udo Möhrstedt founds International Battery Consulting, in short: IBC. This later becomes IBC Solartechnik. As one of the pioneers, he lays the foundation for the development of solar energy in Germany.

  • 1986

    Co-founder of the "PV symposium"

The key players in the energy revolution are networking. Udo Möhrstedt and other solar entrepreneurs found the "Photovoltaic Solar Energy Symposium" at Kloster Banz.

  • 1992

    Pioneer of e-mobility

Together with colleagues, Udo Möhrstedt converts a total of five VW Polos to electric drive. The electric Fox travelled through Upper Franconia at a maximum speed of 105 km/h.

  • 1998

    Launch of own brand

IBC Solartechnik launches its first own-brand solar modules.

  • 2000

    New name IBC SOLAR AG

IBC Solartechnik is given a new name and becomes a  public limited company. From then on, the company operates as IBC SOLAR AG.

  • 2001

    Own mounting system

The first in-house mounting system for pitched roofs, then called Megaline (today TopFix), completes the IBC SOLAR product portfolio.

  • 2004

Energy transition in the hands of citizens

The first solar park for local citizens was built in Eurishofen in the Allgäu region.

  • 2007

    In-house outdoor test facility

In order to test and ensure product quality, the company built its own outdoor test facility. On an area of over 3,000 square metres, the modules undergo long-term tests under real environmental conditions.

  • 2009

    PV test laboratory

Modules and mounting systems are evaluated and put through their paces in a unique and now independent test laboratory. IBC SOLAR continues its high quality standards with the tests in the SUNLAB PV test laboratory.

  • 2011

    Year of the storage system

In quick succession, the company first launched a lead battery storage system and shortly afterwards a lithium-ion storage system on the market under the IBC SOLAR brand. In addition, first large-scale storage system in the form of a neighbourhood storage facility was put into operation.

The Founder

Udo Möhrstedt

Pioneer of the industry

Udo Möhrstedt is one of the world's great pioneers in the PV industry. He founded IBC SOLAR in 1982 at a time when the possibilities of solar energy were virtually unknown and large-scale utilisation was considered impossible. His foresight in believing in photovoltaics as the future leading technology for sustainable power generation was unrivalled at the time.

With great entrepreneurial skill, he founded and managed a company that has made it its mission to make photovoltaics accessible to as many people as possible worldwide. IBC SOLAR still lives by these goals and values today. nce 1 January 2024, Dr Dirk Haft has continued them as the new CEO.
